Mathematical models of this process are based on different assumptions. As mentioned by Hoffmann et al. (1986), first steps of the construction of mathematical models are relatively simple and easy when biological postulates are formulated properly, but many difficult mathematical problems (such as the existence, uniqueness and stability of solutions, etc...) are to be solved in connection with their further developing.
