✦ Synopsis

A generalization of Farey sequences to quadratic irrational numbers is given, for which the (fundamental) discriminant property of Farey sequences is shown to hold on average. This is the first positive result connected with a phenomenon observed by H. Brown and K. Mahler more than 20 years ago. 1995 Academic Press. inc.
