✦ Synopsis

A heterogeneous precursor with respect to the metathesis of olefins has been prepared by a controlled thermal reaction between rr-C,H,W( CO)$l and a silica support. Activated by iBuAlC1, the catalyst is reusable without any loss of tungsten. Compared to the W03/Si02 system, the new catalyst is superior with respect to conversion and initial rate. Characteristics of the precursor and activated system have been determined by different techniques, such as GC-MS, XPS, XRD and TGA-DTA.
