Monthly reports downloaded from "USDA-FAS-oilseeds" via Google contain data that permit an overview of the seeds-oilmeal complex by commodity, by country/region, and by progress through the years. Data for commodities during the last completed harvest year (2006/07) are discussed in this article. Figures relate to seven major oilseeds (soya, rape, sun, cotton, peanut/groundnut, copra, and palm kernel), nine oils (seven as before plus palm and olive oils from oil fruits), and eight oil meals (seven as before plus fish meal). An overview by country/region will appear next month. In the following text figures have been rounded to make for easier understanding. More complete figures are in Table 1.
