The meeting, held over four days (March 23-26, 1992) at the new TRINITY Conference Centre at Fredericia (Denmark), was attended by over 105 delegates from 20 countries.
Delegates were welcomed by Dr. Shukla at the opening reception and again before the first working session. The first of the 22 lectures was given by Siegfried Mielke (ISTA Mielke) and covered Trends in Supply, Consumption and Prices. In an authoritative presentation he explained the upward pressure on consumption of oils and fats arising from population increase and per cuput income. Total world demand is likely to increase by 25 million tonnes during the nineties and this will be met mainly by increasing supplies of five oils viz soybean, rape, sunflower, palm, and palm kernel and especially by the last two.
