โœฆ Synopsis

Douglas'Automation Company (MCAUTO) have announced the merger of its wholly owned subsidiary, United Computing Corporation of Carson, California, into MCAUTO. MCAUTO purchased the assets of United Computing Corporation on April 1, 1976, and transferred them into the wholly owned subsidiary. The subsidiary continued to develop and sell minicomputer-based systems in the CAD/CAM markets. UCC's systems are called UNIAPT, (used in numerical control processing) and UNIGRAPHICS (used for interactive design and drafting). They will be added to MCAUTO's Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) programme and other CAD/CAM programmes, such as FASTDRAW, COMPUDRIVE, MDCAPT and VIVIDATA. Marketing of these products will be assigned to MCAUTO's general marketing organization.

Site preparation work has also begun for a new seven-building complex for MCAUTO in the St. Louis, USA area.

A construction contract is expected to be awarded later this year for the complex, which will provide 800000 sq ft of floor space to house MCAUTO's world headquarters, computer centres and associated office and service space.
