โœฆ Synopsis

Written by top oculoplastic surgeons in the field, including Frank A. Nesi, MD, this atlas combines an innovative educational technique: line drawings that correspond to videoclips on DVD. The text's distinguished authors have perfected the most frequently performed oculoplastic surgical techniques. Their atlas series is designed to instruct all ophthalmologists who wish to learn these techniques and thus enhance their income. This volume covers the latest in cosmetic facial surgery techniques including endoscopic foreheadplasty, direct eyebrow lift, rhytidectomy surgery, mid-face lift and facial cosmetic Botox. Mastery of these procedures is made easier by following the step-by-step illustrations that are complemented by videoclips on DVD. The study of the supporting anatomy, followed by clear cut guidelines with heavily illustrated techniques, offers a format which will allow the learner to gain the necessary understanding for achieving a more favorable result.

**Reviewer:**Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, MD(Bridgeport Hospital)
**Description:**This is a fundamental book for those ophthalmic surgeons intrigued by cosmetic facial and eyelid surgery. An enclosed DVD highlights surgical procedures and assists in the exploration of this area.
**Purpose:**The authors wish to arm their readers with state-of-the-art techniques regarding facial, lid, and brow procedures. The passage of knowledge is always a worthy objective and their efforts are replete with wisdom; nevertheless, this truncated book lacks sufficient depth to fully inform the reader.
**Audience:**The contributors are mainly ophthalmic surgeons who have an interest in oculoplastic surgery. Although the book is not specifically designed for any particular group of physicians, it would undoubtedly best serve ophthalmic residents and those surgeons wishing to touch upon these topics.
**Features:**Through the 11 chapters, a concordant theme emphasizing anatomy is presented; indeed, the DVD and anatomical discussions in the book shine the most brilliantly. The remainder of the book delves into surgical procedures of the forehead and brow; face lifting in general with a subsection on the mid-face lift; upper and lower blepharoplasty; and ancillary procedures involving laser, botox, lip and soft tissue augmentation.
**Assessment:**The laudable goal of expanding the horizons of the authors' colleagues has been achieved with this book and DVD. However, the basic nature of this book requires additional didactic guidance if the reader is to proceed with these surgical explorations.
