## Abstract Large magnitude earthquakes generated at sourceβsite distances exceeding 100km are typified by lowβfrequency (longβperiod) seismic waves. Such induced ground shaking can be disproportionately destructive due to its high displacement, and possibly high velocity, shaking characteristics.
