✦ Synopsis

The porosities of a number of graphites were determined by mercury porosimetry and helium intrusion methods, and in addition, vapor pressures and mercury distillation data were obtained on graphite specimens intruded with mercury in a porosimeter. All of the results were in agreement with the conclusions that mercury porosimetry can cause damage to graphite specimens above some critical pressure range, and that this damage can cause the results of $orosimetry measurements to be misleading.
