✦ Synopsis

We have observed the mixed state in single crystal films of lead using Essman and Trauble's technique and a scanning electron microscope. Single crystal films were grown epitaxially on heated substrates of mica and MoS 2. Films of thickness 2000 A or less show a single fluxoid state while in thick films the multifluxoid state is observed.
