To promote the understanding and implementation d recovery d stressed ecosystems: * Environmental management and rehabilitation of stressed ecosystems. * Impact of water, air-borne, and sediment-bound contaminants. * Development of appropriate and useful remedial action plans for the recovery of stressed ecosystems. * Development of suitable monitoring programs to assess the effectiveness of remedial actions. To encourage internationalI interdisciplinaryI and cross-sectoral communication on ecosystem heatth and recovery: * Exchange of scientific information and amalgamation of multi-disciplinary expertise, including public, municipal, private, and industrial sectors. * lnternational scientific cooperation on global projects and technological transfer. * Consideration of sustainable development, global environmental change, and environmental taw. * lnternational workshops, symposia and conferences. * lnternational scientific journal on aquatic ecosystem health and management, and special publications as needed.
