He was a fine craftsman whose contributions to our knowledge of flames were widely recognized. In an early editorial in this Journal, 3, 1 (1959), A. C. Egerton, speaking of the tools and techniques, which were then becoming available for combustion studies, offered Kaskan's work as an example of the new advances.
