✦ Synopsis

A high resolution infrared study of the R(15/2) vibration-rotation transition in 14N'6C has been performed using a narro\v lincwidth (= 1 IMHz) tunable PbSSe semiconductor laser. Small splittings due to A-type doubling and the Zecman effect have been fully resolved (resolution = 5 X IO'), limited only by the Doppler width in the low pressure gas. * This work was sponsored by the Department of the Air Forrz ** Zeeman efiect, see ref. [l];Starkeffect, see ref. (21; hyperfine structure. see ref. 131. *** Some obsermtions involving the moleculnr Zzemnn effect haM: &en made in the far in<rared, see ref. is].

Using Fourier transform spectra, absolute line parameters (positions, Lambda splittings, and intensities) have been measured in the two allowed subbands 2Pi1/2-2Pi1/2 and 2Pi3/2-2Pi3/2 of the 2 <-- 0 vibrational band of the 14N16O molecule. These line parameters have been compared with previous expe

The ν 5 fundamental (C-C stretching) of CH 3 CD 3 shows a resolved torsional structure, caused by perturbations due mainly to the linear dependence of the torsional potential barrier on the normal coordinate Q 5 . We were able to analyze this structure and to assign vibration-rotation transition wav

Intensities and Lambda-splittings have been measured for lines belonging to the 3 <-- 1 hot band of 14N16O. The vibrational transition moment and the Herman-Wallis coefficient have been determined. Hamiltonian constants have been calculated for the four vibrational states v = 0, 1, 2, and 3, and a s
