Inflammation of the uterine ccrvix regardless of its cause may produce cytological changes that are essentially due to dcgeneration. Only i n the prescnce of acute gonorrheal ccrvicitis are the cytological alterations suffi- cient to be confused with carcinoma.
SUMMARY
T h e morphological features of the neoplastic cells were established by reviewing thirty cases of carcinoma in situ proved by histopathological examination. T h e various types of specimens are considered as to their relative merits, and the cells most frequently confused with ncoplastic cells derived from this tumor are noted.
