✦ Synopsis
An ecient method for calculating the transient response of Timoshenko and Mindlin type structures is to use explicit time integration combined with increased rotatory inertia. Numerical stability analysis shows that time step variations are important in determining how much to increase the inertia. # 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Commun. Numer. Meth.
