✦ Synopsis

The ML~nlc Carh~ met Iiod as applied to tile calculation of equilibrium properties is explained. A severe lest of the method is made in the study of phase transitions 'ahich illustrates both the limitations and successes of the numerical 'echnique. I"or non-equilibrium properties, the molecular dynamics computer method is applied to the calculation of autocortektt~on functions leading 1o tile transport coefficients. A connecti,~n between molecular and hydrodynamic processes could be establi~,hed and its implication for hydrodynamics !~; discussed.

A distribution function, using dynamical weights, proposed previously to describe statistical mechanical systems in stationary states, is discussed from a physical point of view. The distribution function correctly describes certain large current fluctuations far from equilibrium, observed in two co
