โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
To damp out spurious highโfrequency responses, timeโstep integration algorithms for structural dynamic analysis should have controllable numerical dissipation in the highโfrequency regime. The algorithms should also be unconditionally stable so that the timeโstep size is governed by the accuracy requirement only. This paper reviews several recently developed frameworks that can be used to construct unconditionally stable dissipative timeโstep integration algorithms. The continuous displacement (singleโfield) formulations are considered here. The algorithmic parameters that can be used to control the numerical dissipation in timeโstep integration algorithms are also discussed.
