Abstract
The objective of this paper is to present a systematic numerical analysis for a mixed nonlinear model of shock absorber under vibration excitation. The mixed nonlinear model is presented for attenuating vibration by considering the coupling of quadratic damping, viscosity damping, Coulomb damping and nonlinear spring forces. An approximate computational analytical solution for the dynamic transmissibility of the shock absorber was deduced by combining Fourier transforms and the harmonic balance method with deterministic excitation. The mathematical characteristics of the dynamic transmissibility were analyzed to illustrate the dynamic performance of the shock absorber. The results show multiple solutions, especially the lowβfrequency attenuation characteristics below the resonance frequency. The results
provide a theoretical basis for the design of nonlinear shock absorbers. Copyright Β© 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The purpose of this paper is to describe a quantitative method of trophic dynamic analysis derived from a systems ecology theoretical foundation. This method was devised to provide a solution for the problem of how to deal with mixed trophic and non-trophic processes in cyclic ecosystem networks, a
