Software for integration

A software package that uses modular integration to put an engineering design station with 2D and 3D capabilities on a PC will be introduced by VersaCAD UK. The system, called VersaCAD Design, integrates 2D drafting, 3D modelling, two way CAD communication, bill of materials reports and offline plotting into one modular system with one main menu.

The single menu allows two way transfer between 2D and 3D by the addition of z coordinates to objects in 2D. Capabilities include move, rotate, copy, scale and sophisticated grouping, and 3D capabilities include built-in primitives such as spheres, cylinders, polyhedrons and cones, advanced colour shading, automatic extrusion and various display modes. The bill of materials system is integrated into the system to allow costs, wages and labour information to be produced for each design.

VersaCAD Design also has a built-in CAD programming language that enables the system to meet specific needs. VersaCAD Design offers all the capabilities that the recently announced VersaCAD Advanced system offers plus the potential to leave the program at any time to perform DOS operations.
