โœฆ Synopsis

Similar to HIV-1-induced suppression of thymus-derived lymphocytes (T cells), oxidatively stressed T cells show inhibited DNA synthesis and proliferation. The influence of oxidative stress on nucleotide pools was explored using 'Huridine addition to OKT3-stimulated peripheral blood lymphocytes. The cells were preincubated and stimulated in the presence of 1 mM buthionine sulfoximine to inhibit GSH synthesis. This treatment gave rise to a significant reductfon -in dUDP and TTP biosynthesis following 18-32 hours stimulation, indicating possible impairment of ri- bonucleotide reductase activity.

Thiol modifiers and oxidants inhibit lymphocyte activation. To investigate which of the many cell functions sensitive to oxidation are critical in this inhibition, mouse splenic lymphocytes were treated with oxidants prior to exposure to mitogen, and progression into the cell cycle was assayed. ## Abstract The pathways of transduction of oxidative stress signals have been studied using the Jurkat T cell model. The oxidative stress was induced by exposure of the cells to 100 ฮผM H~2~O~2~. ## Abstract Isocyanates, a group of low molecular weight aromatic and aliphatic compounds containing the isocyanate group (โˆ’NCO), are important raw materials with diverse industrial applications; however, pathophysiological implications resulting from occupational and accidental exposures of these
