Alkaline phosphatase and 5'-nucleotidase activities were analysed cytophotometrically in cryostat sections of female rat liver after partial hepatectomy. Alkaline phosphatase activity increased rapidly after operation up to a maximum seven-fold rise at 24 h in comparison with sham operated or contro

Abstract
A nucleotidase of the combined 3β²β and 5β²βtype (nucleotide phosphohydrolase, E.C.3.1.3.31) was present in the cytosol of regenerating rat liver cells, and of rat hepatoma and pituitary cells in culture. The enzyme activity per milligram of cell protein was very similar in regenerating liver and in three of the different cell types. The hepatoma cell strain which showed the slowest growth rate had a threeβfold higher basal enzyme activity. After the first days of regenerative growth in rat liver and during early plateau phase of cell growth, there was a 50β120% increase in specific enzyme activity. In the hepatoma cells, the enzyme activities were also compared to the cellular content and synthesis of RNA and DNA. The increase in enzyme activity occurred concomitantly with a reduced incorporation of ^3^Hβthymidine into DNA. The possible physiological role of this nucleotidase in nucleic acid and nucleotide metabolism is discussed.

## Abstract A clonal strain of epithelial cells has been established from the transplantable Morris hepatoma 7800 and is designated 7800C~1~. The cells grow with a population doubling time of about three days in serumβsupplemented synthetic medium. Cells of the 7800C~1~ strain have maintained measu
This paper presents a fast HPLC assay for measuring UDP-glucuronyltransferase (UDPGT) activity in extracts of adult human liver and human fetal liver cells in culture. Harmol glucuronide formed was quantitated directly without prior hydrolysis after a simple step of selective extraction of harmol. T
## Abstract Hepatomas thrive in a hypoxic environment resulting in the induction of a cluster of hypoxia related genes. The protein phenotypic expression include hypoxia inducible factorβΞ±, prolylβ4βhydroxylase, vascular endothelear growth factor and erythropoietin. The present study was undertaken
