We review the evidence for asymmetries in explosions, and in particular, the nucleosynthetic signatures from these asymmetries. To guide our intuition for these yields, we have modeled a series of spherically symmetric explosions with a range of explosion energies.
Here we present the results from these 1-dimensional simulations, focusing on the yields of the radioactive elements 44 Ti and 56 Ni. We find that, although the abundance yields of 44 Ti do depend sensitively on the explosion energy, the trend (whether it increases or decreases with explosion energy) depends very sensitively on the model.
