✦ Synopsis

The existence of monomolecular semiquinone free radicals as intermediate products of the alkaline reduction of 1,4-and 2,7-hydroxyanthraquinone-sulphonic acids could be proved by means of potentiometry, polarography, spectrophotometry and ESR.-spectroscopy. The semiquinone formation constants have been determined.
