✦ Synopsis
This is the first of two papers on the connection between one-boson-exchange models and reggeon exchanges for nucleon-nucleon scattering at low energies. In this paper we give a new discussion of the nucleon-nucleon formalism where we exploit the so-called "derivative amplitudes."
The latter amplitudes have good analyticity properties as well as simple elastic unitarity relations. This we use for the derivation of the usual three-dimensional integral equations for helicity amplitudes employing the standard tools of analytic S-matrix theory. Also, the exchange of bosons with general J is discussed and the corresponding helicity amplitudes are given.
