โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Measurements of isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(ethylene terephthalate) including defined solid nucleating agents have been performed by DSC method in broad temperature range. Based on the results and knowledge of growth rate of spherulities in PETP the nucleation rates were calculated. The mechanism of heterogeneous nucleation in PETP was analyzed. The results of the investigation were the basis for proposal of a modified model of heterogeneous nucleation in PETP.

The activity, F, of AgBr, AgI, PbF 2 , Ag 2 S, LiF, and CaF 2 in the catalyzed nucleation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) melts was determined using a nonisothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique. A comparison with existing experimental data was made. It is established that

A series of N-alkyl-p-toluenesulfonamides (ATSA) were synthesized and identified. The measurement of solution viscosity of poly(ethy1ene terephthalate) (PET) proved that ATSA does not react with PET during the melting process of PET/ATSA mixtures, and consequently does not cause any decrease of mole
