โœฆ Synopsis

The nucleation behavior of a poly(ethy1ene oxide) melt is measured as the material crystallizes under defined conditions of shear and temperature. Polarized light microscopy is used as the measuring technique. A strong dependence of nucleation rate on supercooling and imposed stress was found. This behavior is explained in terms of stress-induced supercooling of melts. A correlation between the nucleation behavior and morphology of the sheared material is attempted.

The activity, F, of AgBr, AgI, PbF 2 , Ag 2 S, LiF, and CaF 2 in the catalyzed nucleation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) melts was determined using a nonisothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique. A comparison with existing experimental data was made. It is established that

The nonisothermal crystallization behavior and melting process of the poly(1-caprolactone) (PCL)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) diblock copolymer in which the weight fraction of the PCL block is 0.80 has been studied by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Only the PCL block is crystallizable,
