✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Two types of epithelial cells from the small intestine of adult Xenopus laevis were used as donor cells for nuclear transplantation. One type was morphologically and functionally unspecialized and mitotically active, whereas the other type was specialized and mitotically inactive. The similarity in the over all patterns of development of the two sets of transplants showed that these differences in the state of the donor cells did not affect the ability of their nuclei to support development after transplantation.
