✦ Synopsis

31P spin-lattice relaxation rates have been measured in ptastic cry&al&e white phosphorus as a Eunction of temperatuse and Larq~or frequency. The contriiutions to the meawed relaxation rates from dipole-dipole, anisotropic chemical shielding and spin-rotational interactions have been separated in a coGstent manner. The derived spin-rotational relaxation rate is shown to be quantitatively consistent with large angle reoiientational jumps of the P4 molecules about their C, axes over 120".
