โœฆ Synopsis

This extremely interesting book is one of the best texts published in recent years devoted to diagnostic radiography. Divided into chapters, the book thoroughly demonstrates both the routine and rare occurrences of abdominal calcifications. The introductory chapter discusses the physiology of calcific formations in the abdomen as well as the morphology and mobility of these entities. Subsequent chapters cover calcifications in the urinary tract, gallbladder, liver, spleen, stomach, intestines, pancreas, adrenal glands, retroperitoneum, genital tract, abdominal arteries, abdominal veins, and abdominal lymph nodes. A separate chapter covers miscellaneous radiopacities and another separate special chapter is devoted to abdominal calcifications found in pediatric cases.

This text reaffirms the value of routine diagnostic radiographic examinations and the importance of technical superiority in performing such exams. The authors have taken the preliminary abdominal film and demonstrated the vast contribution to diagnosis a KUB may make. The large range of normal and pathologic variants depicted in the text reflect the thorough research devoted to this text. This book would be an important addition to any medical reference library as the definitive text on radiographic demonstrations of abdominal calcifications.
