## Abstract Samples of pure iron and of 18 pure binary alloys containing a nominal 0.1 or 0.5 wt.% of substitutional alloying element have been oxidised in air at 830 and 930 Β°C. The effects of the alloying element on the reactions at the scalemetal interface have been studied metallographically an

## Abstract ^13^C n.m.r. spectra of some substituted isoxazoles have been examined to ascertain the reactive site in the metallation of 4‐substituted 3,5‐dimethylisoxazoles. The results obtained indicate that metallation occurred exclusively at the C‐5 methyl.

## Abstract The high resolution proton magnetic resonance spectra of a series of cyclic inorganic esters and analogous 1,3‐dioxans have been analysed. The coupling constants and chemical shifts involved indicate that most of the compounds exist preferentially in a chair form.
