Abstract

Using an organizational intelligence framework, this chapter distills the major themes addressed in this volume: that institutional researchers need essential knowledge about student engagement, ranging from technical know‐how, to the how and why of measuring process indicators of student learning and development, to an understanding and appreciation for the reasons that higher education must respond to calls for assessment, accountability, and transparency.
