allegedly infringing their patents related to ethanol production. In a case filed with a Wisconsin court, Novozymes claims Danisco A/S' use of the enzyme alpha-amylases infringes on the former's US patent for the enzyme. The alpha-amylase products are used in both the biofuel and starch industries. GS CleanTech, meanwhile, is suing 15 ethanol plants as well as ICM Inc and GEA Westfalia Separator Inc for infringing its parent company's patented corn oil extraction technology. GreenShift, GS CleanTech's parent, obtained a patent in May 2009 for a process for recovering corn oil by evaporating whole stillage.
