ethanol production. Poet is going against the current trend by building 4-5 plants per year even though ethanol prices are low. Novozymes is investing heavily in developing bioethanol as an alternative to petrol but the company's continued growth in Denmark requires positive developments, especially amongst American customers. Poet currently produces 6.8 bn gallon/y bioethanol but aims to be turning out 36 bn gallon/y alternative fuels by 2002.
