## Abstract A dual and wide‐band printed dipole antenna is presented for IMT‐2000 and 5.2/5.4/5.8‐GHz WLAN applications. The proposed balun‐fed antenna consists of a double‐sided printed dipole antenna with a microstrip‐fed disk‐dipole printed on the top side of the substrate, and a modified annula

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel wideband internal chip antenna for KPCS/IMT‐2000 dual‐band applications is investigated experimentally and numerically. It has a wide bandwidth of about 21.4%, measured gain of 2.6 dBi, and an omnidirectional radiation pattern while retaining cost effectiveness and small size. These features make the proposed antenna highly suitable for handset applications. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
