✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel compact ultra‐wideband bandpass filter is proposed to meet Federal Communications Commission's spectrum mask. Shunt short‐circuited stubs and the parallel coupled lines are used to achieve a fraction passband from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Three interdigital edge coupled microstrip lines are used for coupling enhancement. By employing short‐circuited stubs, this filter significantly improves the selectivity and out‐of‐band characteristics. For verification, the proposed filter is designed, simulated, and fabricated with good agreement. The design of the filter is simple, and it shows good frequency response. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract An ultra wideband bandpass filter with sharp‐rejection is proposed by using a new structure of double ring resonators. The double ring resonator generates a couple of attenuation poles, and its operation mechanism is made clear through the even‐ and odd‐mode analysis of the circuit. The
