✦ Synopsis

The discovery of two new titanium halides came as a surprise. The isotypic compounds Ti~7~Cl~16~ and Ti~7~Br~16~ are produced by chemical transport (via gaseous complexes); X‐ray analysis shows them to contain TiTi bonds.
