✦ Synopsis

Treatment of 4-aroyloxy-3-bromomethyl-and 4-aroyloxy-3-aroyloxymethyl-2-isoxazolines with NaHCO 3 in DMF at 120°C gave 3-aroyloxymethylisoxazoles in moderate to good yields. A concerted mechanism is proposed to explain the formation of the rearrangement products.
