✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Two broadband compact doubly perforated hybrid couplers have been designed, manufactured, and measured. To improve frequency characteristics and to reduce circuit dimensions, two kinds of perforations have been introduced: the defected ground structures in the ground plane metallization and photonic bandgap cells in the strip metallization. Measurement results show essential miniaturization (∼39% and ∼36%) and enhancement of the bandwidth (∼47% and ∼75 %). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The newly method to implement the branch‐line couplers has been proposed in this letter. Using the approach of π‐model, the size of branch‐line coupler can be miniaturized easily. Especially, the proposed coupler without using any lumped element can be easily fabricated on the printed c
## Abstract This paper presents an optically controlled broadband phase‐shifter using a parallel‐line coupler, that takes advantage of high‐resistivity silicon photo‐absorption at 840 nm. A continuously variable phase‐shifting of 120° is achieved at 11 GHz with Δ|__S__~21~| < 5 dB and with |__S__~1
