✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel distributed microstrip negative refractive index material (NRI) is presented, which comprises of microstrip line sections loaded with interdigital capacitance and short‐circuited stub inductance. This new NRI removes the discrete lumped components and associated fabrication problems of conventional NRI. Simulation and experimental results show that the novel distributed NRI yields larger passbands and more distinct stopbands. Β© 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The Bragg regime shifts when conventional materials in a multilayer distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) are replaced by artificial materials with the so‐called negative index of refraction. This provides an avenue for characterizing the latter class of materials. Β© 2002 Wiley Periodicals,
