✦ Synopsis

A versatile synthesis of pyrazoles from aryl benzophenone hydrazones was demonstrated with a variety of 1,3-bifunctional substrates under acidic conditions. The obtained regioselectivity is consistent with transhydrazonation followed by subsequent cyclization.
