The base mediated reactions of alkenyl alkyl ethers (cf. (I), (III), ( V)) as well as ketene acetals (VII) with phosphorus trihalides result in the unprecedented electrophilic substitution of a vinylic hydrogen by a dihalogenophosphine group furnishing (alkoxyalkenyl) dihalogenophosphines in good yi
