Abstract
All‐optical data format conversion from nonreturn‐to‐zero (NRZ) to pseudoreturn‐to‐zero (PRZ) using an ultrafast nonlinear interferometer has been proposed and demonstrated for the first time. Stable format conversion from NRZ to PRZ has been achieved at 10–40 Gbit/s. This scheme may be useful for all‐optical clock recovery in high‐speed optical communication systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
