On the Reactivity of Bis(2-methylallyl)palladium and -platinum towards Tertiary Phosphanes

Pd(2-MeC3H4), (1) reacts with tricyclohexylphosphane to form (2-MeC,H4),PdPCy3 (3) which is fluxional in benzene solution at room temperature. The platinum complex (2-MeC3H,),-PtP(i-Pr), (4), obtained from Pt(2-MeC,H,), (2) and triisopropylphosphane, is rigid in toluene solution up to 90°C and possesses one trihapto-(x-) and one monohapto-(a-) bonded allylic ligand.
