✦ Synopsis

This article described over-expression of p73 in patients carrying mutated p73 genes in adult AML. It has been brought to the attention of the editor that inconsistencies between this manuscript and manuscript ''Alteration of p73 in pediatric de novo acute lymphoblastic leukemia'' by Sahu GR and Das BR, published in Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2005 Feb 18;327(3):750-5, cast doubts on the reliability of the data, identity of samples and the reported conclusions. The authors are unable to solve in a timely fashion the discrepancies and overlaps reported for the two data sets and wish to retract the AJH manuscript in toto.They also regret any adverse consequences that may have resulted from the publications of this manuscript. It was also brought to the attention of both editors and authors, that a significant overlap exists between these two papers, which have also been highlighted as potential duplicates in the Deja vu database (see: http://discovery. swmed.edu/dejavu/).

The authors express their most sincere apologies and regrets for these overlaps.
