โฆ Synopsis
A number of observations on post-glacial deposits in Wirral have been accumulated in the last few years, and are here put on record. (A). Leasave Road, Wallusey. In January 1954 when digging a trenchdrain on a new housing estate behind the brickworks on Leasowe Road, Wallasey, Scrobicularia clay was met with at a depth of ca. 9-fi. It was overlaid by two beds of peat and a bed of silt. For the above details and some Scrobicularia valves we are indebted to Mr. N. F. Ellison. This appears to be a further exposure of the post-glacial deposits described by H. W. Greenwood (1909) and W. T. Walker (1913) from Messrs. Barker and Jones' Claypit, Leasowe Road. (B). Bidston Moss. During 1950 cuttings on the Moss revealed a good section of clay resting on peat. This cutting ran approximately N. and S., north of Bidston East Junction. Section seen was: Scrobicularia clay.
