✦ Synopsis

The impedance characteristics of an L-shaped wire monopole antenna are experimentally in¨estigated. The effect of different ratios of the horizontal arm length to the height of the L-shaped monopole on the impedance characteristics is discussed. The in¨estigation demonstrates how a monopole with an o¨erall quarter-wa¨elength ( ) con¨erts to a low-profile small in¨erted-L antenna ILA . It also shows that a height of ;10% operating wa¨elength is a critical condition.
