✦ Synopsis

Since our article in the last issue went to press, we have found a decidedly interesting reference on the same subject, namely a posthumous article by Edouard Phillips in the Comptes Rendus of the French Academy of Sciences, Vol. 112, p. 178 (1891), which describes a scheme very similar to the one described in our article. It is strange that this method has been overlooked for so long.
