โœฆ Synopsis

A theory of isospin asymmetric matter and of neutron star matter in particular, which is compatible with bulk nuclear properties, is formulated in the framework of a relativistic field theory and solved in the mean field approximation.

The self-consistent conditions defining the u-. w-, K-, and p-fields are derived for the normal and the pion-condensed states in explicit form for asymmetric matter, which is in chemical equilibrium, and with prescribed total charge.
