β¦ Synopsis
The nonlinear optical properties of CuBr quantum dots in borosilicate glass are investigated in the single-photon transparency region. The refractive nonlinear index measured at 750 nm is enhanced by two-photon absorption and is .-~iO~cm 2/W for glasses containing less than 0.5% CuBr. The sign of the nonlinearity is positive, in agreement with recent measurements of the dispersion of the nonlinear index for a wide range of bulk solids.
