โœฆ Synopsis

A nonplanar molecule that forms stable ion radical salts is reported, demonstrating that planar molecules are not a prerequisite for the preparation of organic conductors. The results of cyclic voltammetry and Xโ€ray structural analysis are presented for stable single crystals of the cation radical salt of the dibenzo derivative of 4,9โ€bis(1,3,โ€dithioโ€2โ€ylidene)โ€4,9โ€dihydronaphtho[2,3โ€c][1,2,5]thiadiazole. This is the first stable cation radical salt to have been succesfully obtained from a nonplanar molecule.
